
As the head of the Security Section, KIT is willing to take full responsibility for the loss. FUNG makes use of LEE’s greed and successfully kicks YIP out of the Board of Directors. YIP puts the blame on LEE and the couple have a terrible quarrel, after which LEE leaves home in a fit of pique. For SUM’s sake, KIT decides to give away the chess set left by TING to Professor YEUNG in compensation for his loss. YEUNG invites KIT to a chess game and promises to let him keep the chess set if he wins. KIT ends up losing the game. While he is frowning in disappointment, SUM turns up with YEUNG’s chess set. In a drunken stupor, SUM reveals that she is in love with KIT, which surprises KIT beyond measure. FUNG lets CHI take YIP’s place. KIT warns CHI to beware of FUNG, which, however, irks CHI slightly. Chief Executive of Royal Court Hotel, WONG YUK-TING, suffers from ill-health and decides to hand over his business to his two eldest sons, KAI-YIP and KAI-CHI, progressively. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of conflict between YIP and CHI and, due to their poor management skills, their hotel business is going down rapidly. KAI-KIT, the son of TING and his second wife, HO KIT-WAN, is a rebellious young man. He does not get on with TING and the two of them often end up in quarrels. TING’s former brother-in-law, CHEUNG WING-FAT, has inherited a certain number of shares in Royal Court Hotel from his late sister, the first wife of TING. Some years ago FAT was expelled from the Board of Directors as a result of making a serious mistake. Despite this, he has been on good terms with his two nephews, which he sees as a stepping-stone to his comeback.… ...
KIT is accused of dangerous driving which has caused the death of TING. SUM offers to be KIT’s alibi witness and the lad is released right away. Since TING’s death, YIP and CHI have been in dispute over the legacy of their father. The brothers have even driven WAN, who is not officially married to TING, out of the family. While the dispute continues, FUNG, who is now holding a majority of the shares, turns up to take up the post of Chief Executive of Royal Court Hotel. Manager of the Communications Division, KOO PIK KEI, would like to hold a memorial service for TING but the idea is rejected by FUNG as he is worried that this will affect the image of the hotel. FAT asks to join the Board of Directors but FUNG turns him down straight away, which irks FAT no end. CHI has bribed KEI to get him more information of FUNG. FUNG manages to resolve a number of crises facing the hotel.… ...
