When Rules Turn Loose

KEI is very nervous to learn that KAN is seeing his net friend. She later discovers that KAN’s net friend is actually his half-brother CHENG WAI MING and she feels relieved. KAN brings YIN and KEI to his stepmother’s soup shop and they meet KAN’s younger sister CHENG BIK SHAN there. ON treasures each day of his life and his mood is not affected by the forthcoming heart operation. KAN and HEI have conflicts again while discussing a shoplifting case. HEI dismisses KAN out of anger and YEE persuades KAN to stay. ON’s operation is successful and YEE is relieved. YEE asks KAN to take care of the shoplifting case and she assigns YIN to work as his assistance. KAN and YIN work hard to find related evidence but YEE turns down their idea. YIN is worried about the case and ON helps her to analyze the case. KAN wins the case after taking YEE’s advice. KEI comes to hear the case on her day-off……

TAT takes care of divorce action in the law firm. He explains that Mrs. LEE doesn’t fit the requirements of a separation and refuses to handle her divorce case. SUM scolds him for letting go of potential business opportunities but TAT doesn’t share the same attitude with her. SUM is upset and she tells all these to HEI. HEI takes the chance to express his love towards SUM. SUM and HEI used to be lovers but SUM eventually chose TAT to be her husband. In order to please KAN, KEI voluntarily asks to be MING’s tutor. TAT knows that Mrs. LEE doesn’t want a divorce and Mr LEE also want to reunite with her. However, SUM fans the flame between them and they fall out again. KEI is indecently assaulted by somebody and KAN is very nervous about this. KEI misconceives that KAN loves her. YEE is exhausted at work and ON persuades her to take a rest and pass the works to their daughter……

YEE discovers that there is problem in SUM and TAT’s relationship. She is worried. SUM quarrels with TAT again and she turns to HEI for help. HEI grasps the chance to express his love to her. SUM vents her anger on KWAN and KWAN cries that she want to leave. ON persuades KWAN to stay. LING’s friend CHEUNG POR’s flat owner Mr LAM is a very mean person. He tries to force all occupants to leave the house by putting a coffin in one of the empty rooms. In order to help her friend, LING seeks advice from KAN. KEI finds that KAN no longer cares about her as before so she asks YIN to find out the reason. After learning about LING’s friend’s case, KAN issues a letter to Mr LAM and indicts him for nuisance. ON hosts a radio talk show and gives people hints on maintaining a harmonious relationship with their family members. TAT is inspired by him. He apologizes to SUM and they reconcile with each other……

KEI finds that KAN and YIN always stay together and she feels jealous. KEI asks if YIN likes KAN. YIN denies but KEI doesn’t believe in her. YEE misconceives that YIN and KAN fall in love with each other and she is worried. YIN has been seriously hurt in a love relationship. She suffered from anorexia afterwards and wasn’t able to complete her law studies. YEE doesn’t want YIN to get hurt again so she tries to stop her from dating with KAN. SUM’s assistant is on leave and YIN takes up the job temporarily. After crying seriously, KEI decides to let go of her love and start a new life in another country. Before departure, KEI persuades YIN to face her feelings bravely. SUM is very determined and demanding at work and YIN feels great pressure. YEE realizes this and she rearrange the job for YIN. A foreign passenger accuses the minibus driver Mr WONG for defamation……

In order to strengthen YIN’s confidence, YEE uses YIN’s conclusion when summarizing the case and she finally wins. KAN feels sorry for YIN’s bad experience and he realizes that he really has feelings towards her. Encouraged by her parents, YIN retakes the law course so as to actualize her dream of being a solicitor. KAN declares his love to YIN. YIN rejects him but KAN doesn’t give up. He believes that YIN will accept her one day. SUM appreciates HEI’s working style and dislikes TAT for being non-aggressive. While SUM and TAT are having a cold war, HEI grasps the chance to step in. SUM and HEI fall in love with each other again. YEE tries not to interfere between SUM and TAT. She hopes that they will settle their dispute peacefully. YIN helps KAN to handle an Indecent Assault case. They do role-play while investigating the case. TAT is apprehensive. He encourages YIN to let go of the past memories and seize the chance for a new love……

YIN is very angry on SUM’s behavior but she tries not to reveal the truth to TAT. KAN asks YIN why she is unhappy and YIN tells him everything. SUM’s extramarital affair is a shock to YIN and she loses faith in love again. TAT’s old classmate WAI asks him to handle her divorce case. TAT asks for the reason but WAI tries to hide the truth. KAN discovers that SUM and HEI are dating secretly. He tells YIN and YIN is shocked. YIN treats HEI badly. SUM tries to find out the reason. YIN points out that SUM is committing adultery with HEI but SUM denies. The two quarrel with each other seriously and their parents try to stop them from fighting. YEE and ON want to help restoring SUM’s marriage. TAT tells the love stories with SUM in ON’s radio program and SUM recollects the lost feelings. SUM treats HEI coldly but HEI doesn’t give up. He tries to create chance of working together with SUM in an overseas trip……

TAT suspects that SUM has committed adultery but he chooses to hide away from the reality. TAT eventually finds the adultery evidence of WAI’s husband and WAI cries seriously. TAT tries to wipe away WAI’s tear and HEI witnesses the scene. YIN finds it hard to work and study at the same time. She tries to study the course materials during lunchtime. KAN realizes her difficulties and proposes to become her tutor. YIN has a stomach upset and is sent to hospital. KAN is working hard in preparing the notes for YIN and he doesn’t visit her at the hospital. YIN is disappointed but she feels very sweet after knowing the reason. LING’s shop is accused for selling unhygienic food and the respective legal authority seizes the shop. YEE asks TAT to show up in a family gathering but TAT rejects with excuse. HEI tries to please SUM all the time. YIN cannot bear anymore and she scolds HEI seriously……

SUM accuses TAT for committing adultery and she wants a divorce. TAT denies. All family members are shocked to learn about SUM’s decision. YEE scolds SUM for making herself the sufferer by this foolish decision. SUM denies and the two start a quarrel with each other. YIN tells KAN about SUM’s decision sadly and KAN tries to console her. He also accompanies her to pray for blessings in the temple. SUM asks TAT to admit that he is committing adultery since she wants a separation immediately. TAT refuses. CHU learns about HEI’s relationship with SUM and he voluntarily apologizes to YEE. YIN receives a request from the court for accusing LING and she feels uneasy. HEI needs to handle a lot of cases. YEE asks YIN to help him but HEI refuses. KAN has prejudice on HEI since the very beginning. After learning more about his style in dealing things, KAN dislikes him even more. TAT realizes that his relationship with SUM is incurable……

TAT decides to leave and YEE lets him go helplessly. YEE rearrange the tasks in the office. SUM is dissatisfied for she believes that YEE has allocated unfavorable tasks to HEI. SUM argues with YEE on behalf of HEI. She ignores YEE’s advice and believes that she has made the right choice. YIN cannot bear the great changes in her family and she loses confidence again. She begins to skip classes and KAN questions her about this. YIN is very depressed and ON encourages her to face the reality. KAN plays tricks so that YIN could regain her confidence. He pretends that he is no longer interested in handling LING’s case. YIN cannot bear to see him neglecting LING’s case and she tries to search for favorable evidence. She finally gets hold of the key evidence and wins the lawsuit. KAN is overjoyed and praises YIN for having high potential in becoming a brilliant solicitor. YIN is pleased and promises to continue her law studies……

YEE carelessly ruins the investment plan by FAI and his friends. FAI is upset and blames YEE about this. ON discovers that FAI returns to Hong Kong in order to hide away from his creditors. FAI tells him the reason behind and ON is sympathetic on him. ON wants to help FAI and he persuades YEE to take out some savings from their banking account. YEE knows that ON cares about FAI and agrees to lend some money to ON for his urgent need. ON assigns FAI to do administrative work at YEE’s law firm. Model KATHY asks KAN to help her. She wants her ex-boyfriend PAUL to carry out their “Love Agreement”. HEI has business relationship with PAUL. Not wanting to offend PAUL, HEI requests KAN to reject the case. KAN insists to work on the case and YEE supports him. HEI is upset. He decides to help the defense counsel in fighting against KAN. LING is very concern about KAN’s love affairs……

KAN is performing excellently in KATHY’s court case and YIN appreciates him very much. YIN doesn’t want to expose their relationship in front of others and she acts strangely when staying with KAN. The defense counsel says that KATHY’s Love Agreement is not effectual and PAUL eventually wins. After winning the lawsuit, PAUL decides to recommend HEI to a reputable law firm. SUM drifts apart from her family after living together with HEI. CHU encourages SUM to join her family gatherings. YIN believes that it is the right time to disclose her relationship with KAN. YEE doesn’t object it and YIN is overjoyed. PAUL wants to get back the house he sent to KATHY as a gift. While discussing KATHY’s case with YEE, KAN tells her that HEI is having a close relationship with PAUL. YEE suspects that PAUL is the one who obstruct the lawsuit, which leads to their failure in the end……

In order to fight for business opportunities, YEE replaces HEI to attend social functions. HEI tries to accumulate more clients before moving to Thomas Law Firm. YEE worries that the company’s confidential information will be disclosed again and she only trusts YIN and KAN. FAI feels that he is being neglected. FAI asks HEI if he is going to leave and HEI replies that his working style is different from YEE. FAI wants to follow HEI but HEI says that this is not the right time yet. Writer LAW CHUNG YIU sues ON for copying his work in the new travel book and ON is enraged. TAT notices that ON is worrying about something and he asks him what has happened. ON doesn’t want YEE to worry for him so he only asks TAT to handle the case for him. ON suffers torments from the tort case and his heart problem arises again. KAN and YIN prepare hard for KATHY’s case and they finally win the lawsuit……

HEI proposes to break up the partnership with YEE and YEE agrees. HEI brings a large number of clients with him while moving to another law firm. YEE’s law firm becomes chaotic. Wan Tat Insurance is an important client of YEE. Wan Tat is planning to become a listed company in the market and YEE is working hard on this. HEI unscrupulously asks FAI to steal the confidential information of Wan Tat for him. ON learns about the problem of YEE’s law firm while reading the newspaper. YEE explains that she doesn’t want him to worry too much so she didn’t disclose the problem to him. ON realizes that YEE is having great trouble at work. He doesn’t want her to worry for him so he proposes to settle the case with YIU out of the court. YIU is dissatisfied on the amount of compensation and tries to humiliate ON. ON cannot bear the humiliation and decides to fight with him in the court……

HEI learns that SUM is helping to handle Wan Tat’s case. In order to fight with YEE, HEI asks SUM to move to Thomas Law Firm and SUM hesitates. SUM doesn’t know what to do so she turns to ON for help. SUM is inspired by ON’s words. While finishing Wan Tat’s case, YEE learns that HEI has taken away Wan Tat’s business successfully and she feels very upset. HEI is busy with socializing and doesn’t spend much time with SUM. SUM is unhappy. YEE’s law firm doesn’t perform well and YEE gets off early to spend time with her daughters. ON is very optimistic. His humor and laughter have cheered up the patients at hospital. YEE visits ON. ON pretends to be happy but he is actually worrying about his tort case. YIN worries about her exam results. KAN produces an outstanding certificate for her to cheer her up. SUM learns from FAI that HEI is dating with CHAN’s daughter ELSA. SUM pretends to be easy going and says good words on behalf of HEI.

HEI falls in love with another woman. SUM becomes helpless and depressed. TAT stays in the hospital all the time to accompany ON and SUM is grateful about it. ON remembers that he once told the story of his travel book to a patient in the hospital before he published his book. TAT tries to find out this patient. KAN finds that this patient is YIU’s relative LIN. He believes that LIN tells YIU about the story after hearing it from ON and LIN could become ON’s human testimony. ON is relieved to find LIN and believes that she could help him. LIN suffers from dementia and she has a poor memory. YIN worries that LIN is not able to give testimony at the court. In order to help LIN, LIN’s husband brings her to the old music restaurant they used to go and LIN seems to regain her memory. In the court, LIN recalls all the details with the help of YIN and KAN. The reality is revealed and ON is relieved……

TAT returns to YEE’s law firm and YIN becomes a trainee solicitor. YEE assigns a new room to YIN and YIN is overjoyed. YIN will become a solicitor after assisting KAN for 2 years. HEI abandons SUM and starts a new relationship with ELSA for the sake of career advancement. SUM tries to save their relationship but she fails. Their relationship comes to an end eventually. YIN’s argument is rejected by KAN. KAN scolds YIN in front of everybody and YIN is upset. KAN’s old classmate SIU MEI WAH is a clinical psychologist. WAH’s good friend BETTY is fired by her boss unreasonably and WAH wants KAN to help handling BETTY’s case. KAN learns that BETTY’s boss is CHAN. TAT finds SUM hanging around in pubs desperately and he is worried. SUM learns from WAI that TAT didn’t commit adultery at all. She finally realizes that TAT divorced with her just to set her free. She is very ashamed of herself.

WAH persuades BETTY to tell the truth. BETTY is sexually harassed by CHAN for many times. Since BETTY refuses to give in, CHAN fires her eventually. KAN believes that they’ve got strong argument to win. YIN persuades CHAN’s female staffs to be the human testimony but all of them are afraid of losing their jobs. FAI tries to please HEI by telling him that KAN is taking care of BETTY’s lawsuit against CHAN. SUM is emotionally unstable. TAT accompanies her to go through the tough moments. KAN learns that the cleaning lady HAN is the witness for BETTY’s sexual harassment case so he asks YIN to talk with her. WAH and KAN chat together happily and YIN is jealous. YIN tells her feelings to ON and ON is worried. YIN tries hard to persuade HAN and HAN finally agrees to become the human testimony. BETTY has been sexually harassed by somebody during her childhood……

ON realizes that he doesn’t has much time left so he treasures every opportunity of staying with his family members. YIN and KAN start a cold war. ON mediates between them and they eventually reconcile with each other. FAI is in great debt. In order to pay for the debt, FAI discloses the childhood secret of BETTY to HEI. BETTY is able to overcome her unhappy childhood memory and HEI finds it hard to attack her at the court. Pressured by CHAN, HEI asks FAI to stop HAN from giving testimony at the court by giving FAI money. HAN disappears and CHAN wins the lawsuit. YIN finds HAN and discovers the truth. YEE requests FAI to give explanation for his misbehavior. While FAI tries to ask for their mercy, ON suddenly feels sick. BETTY reports FAI’s misbehavior to the Independent Commission Against Corruption. Staffs from ICAC invite YEE and FAI to their office for investigation……

ON consoles YEE and suggests her to go traveling with him while her license is taken away. YEE agrees. YEE finally has chance to actualize her promise. Many clients have lost confidence in YEE’s law firm and the business is getting worse and worse. YEE learns that ON’s health condition is getting worse and she suggests to cancel their travel plan. However, ON insists to go. Not wanting her daughters to embroil in the poor business conditions of her law firm, YEE shut down the firm. ON always sends postcard to YIN while he is away. One day, ON suddenly has a heart attack while writing the postcard. After the close down of YEE’s law firm, SUM, TAT and the others move to different organizations to work. 2 years later, YIN becomes a solicitor. On the other hand, YEE is continuing the trip for ON. TAT still cares about SUM. SUM also realizes that even though they are no longer together, her relationship with TAT is a lot better than before……
